ضمن جهوده في حماية المال العام والثروة النفطية ومكافحة عمليات التهريب التي تستنزف موارد الدولة والاقتصاد الوطني، تمكن جهاز الأمن الوطني العراقي من تفكيك شبكة إجرامية متخصصة بسرقة وتهريب النفط الخام عبر أحد الأنابيب النفطية الاستراتيجية في محافظة المثنى.
وقال بيان للجهاز ، بدأت العملية بمعلومة استخبارية دقيقة من قبل مديريتي أمن البصرة والمثنى عن نشاط مشبوه لسرقة النفط الخام، جرى التحقق منها ومطابقتها استخبارياً وميدانياً، لتبدأ بعدها عمليات المتابعة من العاصمة بغداد وصولاً إلى محافظة المثنى، حيث تمكنت مفارز الفريق التكتيكي من تحديد موقع تنفيذ عمليات التهريب والمتورطين فيها.
وافاد البيان. انه وبعد استكمال الأدلة واستحصال الموافقات القضائية، تمت مداهمة الموقع وإلقاء القبض على (٤) متهمين، وضبط العجلات المستخدمة في نقل النفط، فضلاً عن مزرعة اتُخذت وكراً لعمليات التهريب بالقرب من مسار أحد الأنابيب النفطية الاستراتيجية الممتدة من جنوب العراق باتجاه حديثة، والمرتبطة بمنظومة نقل النفط باتجاه شمال البلاد.
وببن البيان ، ان عملية الضبط كشف عن وجود خرقين في الأنبوب ومد أنابيب مخفية ومدفونة تحت الأرض لمسافة نحو (٢٧٠) متراً وصولاً إلى داخل المزرعة، فيما استُخدمت شاحنات مخصصة لنقل الإسمنت جرى تحويرها لنقل النفط الخام، في محاولة للتمويه.
وأضاف الببان، ان التحقيقات الأولية اظهرت أن عائدات عمليات السرقة والتهريب كانت تصل إلى نحو (٥٠٠) مليون دينار عراقي شهرياً، فيما أشارت المعاينة الفنية التي أجرتها الجهات المختصة، استناداً إلى آثار التآكل في موقع الخرق، إلى أن الخرق يعود لفترة زمنية طويلة.
وأشار البيان الى. ان العملية جرت بالتنسيق مع الجهات النفطية المختصة معالجة الخرقين وإغلاقهما وتأمين الأنبوب، فيما دُوّنت أقوال المتهمين واعترافاتهم، وأُحيلوا إلى الجهات القانونية المختصة لاتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة بحقهم.

Two Oil Pipeline Breaches, Underground Piping, and Camouflaged Tankers: National Security Service Dismantles Crude Oil Theft and Smuggling Network in Al-Muthanna
As part of its efforts to protect public funds and the nation’s oil wealth, and to counter smuggling operations that drain state resources and the national economy, the Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) dismantled a criminal network specialized in the theft and smuggling of crude oil via one of the strategic oil pipelines in Al-Muthanna Governorate.
The operation began with precise intelligence provided by the Basra and Al-Muthanna Security Directorates regarding suspicious activity involving the theft of crude oil, which was verified and cross-checked through both intelligence and field-based means. Follow-up operations then proceeded from the capital, Baghdad, to Al-Muthanna Governorate, where units of the Tactical Team succeeded in identifying the location where the smuggling operations were being carried out, as well as the individuals involved.
Following the completion of the evidentiary process and the securing of the requisite judicial authorizations, the site was raided, resulting in the arrest of four (4) suspects and the seizure of the vehicles used to transport the oil, in addition to a farm that had been used as a hideout for the smuggling operations. The farm is located near the route of one of the strategic oil pipelines extending from southern Iraq toward Haditha, which is connected to the oil transport network serving the north of the country.
The raid revealed two breaches in the pipeline, along with concealed piping buried underground for a distance of approximately 270 meters, running into the farm. Trucks originally intended for cement transport had been modified to carry crude oil in an attempt at concealment.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the proceeds of the theft and smuggling operations amounted to approximately 500 million Iraqi dinars per month. A technical inspection conducted by the competent authorities, based on corrosion evidence at the breach site, indicated that the breach had existed for an extended period of time.
In coordination with the relevant oil authorities, the two breaches were repaired and sealed, and the pipeline was secured. The suspects’ statements and confessions were recorded, and they were referred to the competent legal authorities for the necessary legal action against them.
